It was a cold rainy day in September and I was valiantly making one last attempt to find a show to produce for Halloween. I was, in all seriousness, hours from my deadline where the upcoming production would have to be cancelled. I had looked at big budget musicals, small cast ghost stories, and even considered adapting a rather famous vampire novel for the stage, but nothing was quite right. I sat staring at my bookshelf, hoping for inspiration. On a whim I reached out and pulled down a large, rather tattered anthology I found at a library book sale several years before. “Maybe here,” I thought. I opened the brown musty pages, began flipping through, and suddenly there it was… Blithe Spirit, a play I had heard of but never read. I knew it was funny, and about ghosts, and the cast was the right size. I had a vague suspicion I may have stumbled across the perfect play. After a quick read through the script I knew this was it. There were ghosts, psychics, witty banter, a host of fun effects, and to top it all off, it was really funny. The perfect Halloween show. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Trying so hard to find the elusive perfect show was a challenge to say the least, and could not have paid off more wonderfully. This show is a joy to perform, a joy to watch, and I couldn’t have asked for a better cast and crew. I would especially like to thank FireMAC and the Roxy for letting us come back and every one of our sponsors for their support.
