Congratulations to some Award-Winning Productions

Every year, Tacoma News Tribune theatre reviewer Alec Clayton picks his "Best-of-the-South-Sound".  This year, together with local reviewer Michael Dresdner they have created an online listing of their favorities.  Multiple productions I have been involved with this year as either an actor or lighting designer have been recognized and I want to take a brief moment to  extend my congratulations to my co-workers and the productions which were honored:

Best Musical: "The Who's Tommy" at Centerstage, Directed and Musical Direction by David Duvall (Shared with TMP's excellent production of The Color Purple.)

Best Drama: "Someone Who'll Watch Over Me" at TLT, directed by Doug Kerr.  And best dramatic ensemble for the fine work by the cast.

Best Choreography: For "Oliver" at Lakewood Playhouse, directed and choreographed by Casi Wilkerson.  Also best up-and-coming actor to Coleman Hagerman who had a breakout year.

Best Musical Direction:  David Duvall for his work at Centerstage (I'll include Tommy even though it was left out by Mr. Dresdner, who did not see the production, in his listing.)

Alan Bryce of Centerstage was named best artistic director of the year.

And finally, congratulations to John Munn for his well deserved accolades as Best Director of the Year for "The Farnsworth Invention" (Shared with Doug for "Someone Who'll Watch Over Me" and my good friend Brie Yost for her production of "Zoo Story")

I am very proud to have worked with all these talented individuals and on so many marvelous productions during the past season.  You should check out the entire list of honorees as there are a lot of really good productions I didn't list here, just because I wasn't involved.  And please continue to support live theatre.

This Sunday at 2 pm is your one and only chance to see Bethany Bevier and I perform A.R. Gurney's "Love Letters" at Lakewood Playhouse.

The production has been running since early August with 9 different couples each performing Gurney's play on a different night.  I had the good fortune to see Alex Smith and Jen Davis' opening night reading and enjoyed it very much.  You can read a review of that performance right here:

Alec Clayton Blog

But come Sunday... it will be over; Bethany and I will be the closing performance.  Don't miss your chance to see this lovely play, starring the lovely me, and the lovely Bethany at 2PM this Sunday, August 26th, at Lakewood Playhouse.
