When first given the script for THE FEVER, I was immediately hooked by the intense relevance I found to today’s socio-economic and political climate. In a country divided so intensely by debates over economic conditions, from the various Occupy movements, to the recent furor over income tax paid by various political candidates, it is amazing how a play written more than twenty years ago can point the finger so well at our own foils. But the finest quality of Shawn’s play, as I see it, is that instead of constantly yelling: “You! You! You!” Shawn has the courage to stand up and say “We.” It is this bare humanity that gripped me the first time I read the script, and it is that humanity which has stayed with me as I’ve seen Rob bring the page to life in each rehearsal. Thank you very much for choosing to spend the evening with us, please enjoy the show.
