Lysistrata
by Aristophanes
adapted for performance by Niclas Olson
from an anonymous translation by Oscar Wilde
On a mission to end the Peloponnesian war, Lysistrata bands together the women of Greece in a pact to withhold sex until the men declare peace. As the women tantalize and tease their way to peace, a timeless story emerges of sexual politics, political power struggles, and the battle between the sexes in a comic romp of more than adequate proportions. Funny, poignant, and more than a little dirty, an anonymous translation by Oscar Wilde is modernized in this new performance adaptation from playwright Niclas Olson. (8F, 4M)
